UP ~ more than a cartoon, up is an ongoing life lesson

My dear hubby: Let's sails our life journey while sharing happiness and hardship and grow old together! I love you!!

Up is a visual knockout, its emotional pull is what makes it soar. The love affair between Carl and Ellie is rendered lovingly in a five-minute sequence that sums up their relationship, showing us their hopes and dreams, some of them realized, some of them not, with the constant being the unfailing love they have for each other. If you don’t shed a tear or two during this sequence, wait until Carl looks once more at Ellie’s book of memories after his adventure is on the rocks. There’s a revelation inside that provides perspective for the widower — and us — that’s as profound as anything you’ll see in a film this year. In the end, Up reminds us that as long as we are breathing, life holds the opportunity for countless adventures, some of the most profound being the ones we don’t realize are occurring right before our eyes. Do yourself a favor — get a box of tissues and go see Up, the best film of the year. by Chuck Koplinski.

I'm a teacher and a grandmother.  My grands (2 & 4) looked at "UP" a number of times:  it's one of those exquisite movies so fine-tuned that every element of plot works.  There are no loose ends in "UP".  My children and I have unplugged cable TV because of trashy programs.  We don't view trashy movies either.  We are devout Christians and we know the secular world has an agenda to destroy today's youth.  There could be no other reason for showing filth. As a baby-boomer I can easily see the difference in what  I used to watch as a kid, and what's playing now. Cartoons have gone from the satire of" Bugs", and "Rocky "to violence and sex.  Hollywood has gone to hell.    (Well, it's always been there, but they don't make a pretense anymore)  But once and awhile, something good comes along like "Finding Nemo", "Veggie Tales" and "UP".  God Bless these honest and good people: it restores your faith in humanity. by Joanne.
